The seminar on Port Environmental Policy & Technology offers a specialised programme on the growing importance of environmental issues and applied technology in ports. Current ecological challenges are discussed, both from the point of view of the authorities and the port users. The seminar focuses on international conventions and regulations (IMO, ILO and EU), Code of Practice, ISO certification, waste water policy, dangerous cargo handling, as well as on strategic policy debates of port and land use planning. Specific attention is paid the environmental challenges of the petrochemical industry.
Several projects and installations are visited in the ports of Antwerp and Zeebrugge.
