About APEC

Port Friendship through Port Knowledge !

38 years experience in port training

Since 1977, APEC - Antwerp / Flanders Port Training Center plays a central role in the transfer of port knowledge from Flanders to the world. Over the years, the APEC standard seminars, tailor-made programmes and study visits have brought more than 14.000 people from 150 countries to Antwerp and Flanders ! The name APEC therefore stands for much more than just a port training center. APEC operates as a window to the world, bringing people and expertise from all corners of the planet closer to Flanders.

Cooperation between public and private port communities

APEC is affiliated to the Antwerp Port Authority. Through short-term, practical and interactive courses, APEC strives to offer an optimal transfer of knowledge on all port-related issues. One of the main elements of the success of APEC, is the cooperation between public and private port communities. This relationship is essential for the working of the seminars and offers the candidates access to the expertise present in the ports of Antwerp, Zeebrugge, Ghent and Ostend.

APEC seminars: standard and tailor made

The APEC standard training activities include several seminars with a duration of 2 weeks each, covering a wide range of port related topics. Upon request, APEC conducts specific tailor-made sessions, focussing on the exact needs and requests of its participants. APEC also organises  study visits (1/2 day up to 2 days). In the lectures abroad, an APEC expert tackles specific topics during a short seminar session abroad.

Scholarships from the Government of Flanders, the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation/ Belgian Technical Cooperation and the Antwerp Port Authority

Through its cooperation with the Government of Flanders, the Directorate-General for Development Cooperation/Belgian Technical Cooperation (DGDC/BTC) and the Antwerp Port Authority, APEC has established a broad system of scholarships.
