Antwerp Port Authority wants to build an LNG bunkering and filling station for inland shipping in the port of Antwerp. This project is partly funded by the LNG Masterplan for Rhine-Main-Danube, a project that is part of the TEN-T program of the European Commission.
In July 2014 a call for applications for the construction of the station was published in the Belgian Bulletin der Aanbestedingen and in the Official Journal of the European Union and applications have already been received in August 2014.
The Port Authority would like to provide the specifications for the construction of the station to the selected candidates in the short term, as well as start in a parallel process with the search for a candidate to operate the station (through the granting of a concession).
While writing the specifications as regards the design and functionality of the station for inland shipping, the Port Authority aims to take into account, for as much as possible, the needs/concerns/issues relating to the operation of the station. For this reason, the Port Authority wants to ask the market, being the possible future operators and customers of the station, for input, opinion or advice that can be used in finalizing the specifications. The answers will however not be binding during the further process.
In that respect, we kindly ask to fill in the questionnaire not later than October 9, 2014 at 11:00 am. Based on the responses received, the Port Authority may consider as a next step to organize a discussion with the interested respondents, on October 14, 2014.
This letter does not imply any engagement on the part of Antwerp Port Authority and aims to provide expert support in taking the necessary decisions regarding the general harbour interest. On the other hand, the private party is not required to participate in the further process after the completion of the questionnaire.
An answer to all questions is desirable, but not required. If parts of your answers are confidential, please indicate this clearly.
