Port of Antwerp presents first Sustainability Report

The first Sustainability Report for the port of Antwerp has now appeared. For a whole year, various workgroups laboured at the production of this report that demonstrates how the various companies within the port are able to reconcile “people, planet and profit” with their day-to-day activities. The initiative-takers behind the report are Antwerp Port Authority and the Left Bank Development Corporation in the public sector, and Alfaport Antwerp representing the private sector.  » more

Port of Antwerp handles 187 million tonnes of freight in 2011 (definitive figures)

The port of Antwerp handled 187,151,714 tonnes of freight last year. This represents an increase of 5% compared with 2010, when the volume was 178.2 million tonnes. Giant container carrier visits port of Antwerp once more

The port of Antwerp is getting ready once more for the arrival of the largest container carriers in the world. Just under three weeks since the successful call by the Edith Maersk, the Maersk shipping company is sending a sister ship, the m/v Eleonora Maersk, to Antwerp. With a LOA of nearly 400 m and a capacity of 15,500 TEU, the ship is due to unload 3,700 TEU in the Deurganck dock on Saturday.  » more

Antwerp port dues will not be fully index-linked

The port of Antwerp is to raise its port dues by 2% in 2012. This is the first time in three years that the port has adjusted its dues to keep pace with inflation, and then only to a modest degree. The decision was made by the Port Authority’s board of directors.  » more
