Integrated petrochemical cluster

For Port of Antwerp, cargo handling, industry and logistics go hand in hand. The port is home to the largest integrated (petro)chemical cluster in Europe. This high degree of integration and diversity throughout the value chain of the (petro)chemical actors present is unique in the world.

This has brought some of the most progressive logistical experts together for the safe storage, handling and distribution of oil, chemical products and gases. The four refineries (Total, ExxonMobil, Gunvor Petroleum Antwerp, ATPC (Bitumen)) and the three steam crackers at the port ensure the stable local availability of raw materials.

The full integration of companies on this location not only facilitates our daily operations and business. It also creates many mutually beneficial synergies. - Wouter De Geest BASF

Worldwide distribution

Antwerp is known around the world as Europe's distribution hub. The port has its excellent connectivity with overseas destinations and the European hinterland, along with its strategic location close to the main European production and consumption centres, to thank for this.

A large number of connections via shortsea, inland navigation, road, rail and an extensive network of pipelines guarantee a first-class connection between the port and the major (petro)chemical centres in Europe.

In addition, the port offers an exquisite range of deep-sea connections to ports across the world.

Tailor-made logistics

The concentration of chemical companies at the port has brought the most progressive logistical experts together.  They guarantee the high-quality storage, handling and distribution of all types of oils, chemical products and gases:
