Exceptional transport for Borealis

Tuesday 01 09 2020

In June, Port of Antwerp received one of the largest one-piece appliances ever. A propylene splitter with a length of 105 metres, a width of 10 metres and a weight of 1,600 tonnes was successfully transported from the quay to the Borealis site in Kallo.

The propylene splitter is an essential element in the construction of Borealis’new propane dehydrogenation (PDH) plant and will be used as a distillation column to split propane from propylene.

The successful delivery of the splitter not only marks an important project milestone for Borealis but also shows that with its many years of expertise Port of Antwerp is well qualified to handle large project cargo.
