"Breakbulk is coming home to Antwerp." With these words Port of Antwerp CEO Jacques Vandermeiren opened the first Antwerp XL conference last year. We are now preparing for the second such trade fair, in April 2020, which this year will focus on breakbulk professionals who are under 40 years old.

"Attracting and retaining the next generation of talent is crucial for the long-term success of the breakbulk industry," according to Antwerp XL Divisional Director Mark Rimmer. "This is where the future ideas, innovation, inspiration and leaders of the industry will come from."

Antwerp XL is therefore celebrating young breakbulk players with its "40 under 40" initiative. During the past few months people have been able to nominate colleagues under 40, including themselves.

A panel of experts will assess all the participants on the basis of their performance and their dedication to making a difference for their organisation and/or the wider breakbulk industry. From their number the panel will then select the 40 with the greatest potential to become future market leaders. These will receive VIP passes for the complete event. We are already curious to know who the winners will be!
