Following a successful trade mission to Moscow and St. Petersburg in 2018, it felt like the ideal time to increase Port of Antwerp's presence in the region. Andrey Daskovskiy was appointed as part of Port of Antwerp's international ambitions and the further expansion of its trade relationships with Russia.

The port of Antwerp ensures fast and efficient goods transport thanks to its multimodal links, which now include a weekly inland navigation service by Swissterminal. Feeder ships connect the Swiss Rhine ports with various deep sea terminals in the ports of Antwerp and Rotterdam twice a week.

Inland navigation is the most common mode of container transport at the port of Antwerp, accounting for 34% of it, or as much as 42% if you include all goods flows in the port. In order to increase growth further, Port of Antwerp is constantly working on new, innovative projects for the inland navigation sector.

Lineas Intermodal is further expanding the Green Xpress Network. From 15 December, three trains a week will connect Antwerp with the "four-country region" in Austria, Germany, Liechtenstein and Switzerland. These 4 important economic hubs provide even better access to the port of Antwerp.

The port of Antwerp ships 300,000 used vehicles a year. In order to ensure that this takes place as sustainably and safely as possible, more stringent rules governing byloads inside second-hand vehicles will be introduced from the start of 2021.

By consciously choosing sustainable means of transport, the Austrian Binderholz is limiting its proportion of road transport when shipping a large load of timber. The transatlantic shipment began its journey in Salzburg and continued via the port of Antwerp to America. Final destination: Port of Cleveland.
