Optimodal, in collaboration with its partner DB Cargo, has added a new train service between Antwerp and Neuss, Germany to its range. The new direct shuttle connects the PSA Noordzee Terminal in Antwerp with the Neuss Trimodal Terminal in Neuss twice a week
In addition, Kombiverkehr is expanding the shuttle between Antwerp and Duisburg, also partnering with DB Cargo. A shuttle will travel between the DUSS Terminal in Duisburg three times a week.

The new digital container release process Certified Pick up (CPu) is to launch in January 2021. In the first phase, CPu will provide transparency about the status of your container. The PIN code system will then be phased out and replaced with a digital container release process.

Belgian and Dutch inland ports are working together to create a single standard shore-based power system for inland navigation and river cruisers. To this end, Port of Rotterdam Authority, Port of Antwerp, Amsterdam Port Authority, North Sea Port Netherlands, the Drechtsteden and De Vlaamse Waterweg are jointly issuing a European call for tenders.

The Minerva 5G network will improve the speed, reliability and security of digital applications of Port of Antwerp, and the local authority, police and fire service. Technology firm iSea is currently testing and developing the network in collaboration with Ericsson.

Since mid-October, Port of Antwerp Port Authority Officers have been assisted by a drone from the European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) to keep watch over operations. It will collect images during oil incidents as well as aerial images of regular operations. The images can be accessed remotely by emergency and security services as needed.

The first written reference to the loading of an English ship in the port of Antwerp dates back to 1120. The port has been a key gateway to the UK for 900 years now. We've seen through wars and crises, so, deal or no deal, the UK will remain a key maritime partner for Port of Antwerp even after 31 December.

Heaving lines weighted with illegal objects are very dangerous for boatmen. Boatman André Van Mechelen and assistant traffic controller Alain Vervloet therefore came up with the idea of making safe sandbags and handing them out to reported ships. For Port of Antwerp, safety is a top priority and we are proud to throw our weight behind this idea.

By the end of this year, Hyundai Motors will ship 50 hydrogen trucks via the port of Antwerp to the Hyundai site in Switzerland. The aim is to ship 1,600 trucks to Europe via Antwerp by 2025.
